Easy Ways to Beat Wintertime Blues

wintertime bluesAs fall wraps itself around us with a colorful blanket of falling, colorful leaves and the ambiance of bonfires, it can be difficult to accept that winter will soon be knocking on our door. Even if your winter doesn’t bring bone-chilling temperatures it usually delivers a bit of the winter blues each time it makes its annual appearance. So, get prepared now!

Here are a few ideas I discovered that worked for me a couple years ago when my region of the country was experiencing a bitter cold, snowy winter. Feel free to steal these ideas and apply them to your own situation if the winter blues find you.

Pretty Feet

There is nothing more exciting than the first warm day that you can let your toes free from the wool socks that have hidden them from the warm sun for so long. Don’t let your feet be caught naked. Buying a cool, new spring color can rev up your mood tremendously.

Spring Fragrances

Put away the pumpkin bread and spiced apples, lighten up your house with fresh springtime scents. The stores welcome spring almost immediately after the new year, so finding springtime scents can be easy. Or plan ahead and stock up on clearance items now from this past summer and spring.

Spring Purses

A purse can be your signature piece and what better way to battle the dredge and dreariness of winter than by carrying a bold, colorful purse. Or, go for a solid red purse. Red evokes energy and on blustery winter days we could all use a bit of energy.

The Perfect Swimsuit

It is difficult to think about swimsuits in sub-zero temperatures, but did you know early season swimsuit shopping will afford you the best selection in color and style? It is in the middle of June when your summer beach vacation is beckoning that you will be left scrambling for the leftovers that sit on the rack.  Sifting through the racks of bright, tropical colors will save you the frustration later and also brighten your mood now!

Get Outside

So, I gave you some glossy ideas to help you get over the wintertime blues. But the easiest and cheapest way to do it is to just get outside and soak up some sun. If it is 30 degrees put on a coat, a hat, a scarf and gloves and get moving. A refreshing walk in the chilly air will jump start your spirit and put you on track to a wonderful day. Happiness is the essential ingredient of springtime. Find your happiness today!
